Nick Mabey has been working for over thirty years to design and shape a world that reconciles human needs and natural limits

Nick is a co-founder & director of E3G and has served as its CEO since 2006.

E3G is one of the world’s most influential climate change think tanks, with offices in Berlin, Brussels, Dublin, London and Washington DC. To better manage E3G’s growth & external impact he revised his role to co-CEO in 2022.

Nick advises governments and other organisations on the politics and policy of climate change. He appears regularly in the global media and is active on twitter @Mabeytweet

He was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Jubilee honours list in 2022 for services to climate change and support to the UK COP 26 Presidency.

Nick is founder & Chair of London Climate Action Week, one of the world’s largest climate festivals. He has several independent appointments including as a London Sustainable Development Commissioner.

Nick has previously worked in the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, UK Foreign Office, WWF-UK, London Business School and the UK electricity industry. As an academic he was lead author of “Argument in the Greenhouse”; one of the first books examining the economics of climate change .

He originally trained as a mechanical engineer specialising in energy systems. He shifted to work on policy and political issues at MIT when he realised that this was the critical path to creating and deploying sustainable solutions at scale.

Nick lives in London with his family which is ideal for indulging his passion for history and urban design. He relaxes by walking and is a long time practitioner of Chinese martial arts; he currently studies with Master Wang Hai Jun.
